दृष्ट्वा निपतितं भूमौ दिवश्च्युतमिवामरम् ।
प्रणेमुः पाण्डवा भीष्मं सानुगाः सह चक्रिणा ॥ ४ ॥

dṛṣṭvā nipatitaṁ bhūmau divaś cyutam ivāmaram

Synonyms
dṛṣṭvā — seeing; bhīṣmam — Bhīṣma; nipatitam — lying; bhūmau — on the ground; iva — like; amaram — an immortal [devam14]; cyutam — fallen [patitam15]; divaḥ — from heaven [(svargāt), suggesting that although Bhīṣma had fallen, he glowed with a brilliant luster (patitasyāpi kānty atiśayaṁ sūcayan)]; pāṇḍavāḥ — the Pāṇḍavas; sānugāḥ — along with their attendants [bhṛtyādi-sahitāḥ]; saha cakriṇāḥ — [and] with the bearer of the disc [Śrī Kṛṣṇa]; [tam] praṇemuḥ — bowed down to him.
Translation
Seeing Bhīṣma lying on the ground like a deva fallen from heaven, the Pāṇḍavas along with their attendants and Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the bearer of the disc, bowed down to him.
