SB 1.9.31

विशुद्धया धारणया हताशुभस्तदीक्षयैवाशु गतायुधव्यथः।
निवृत्तसर्वेन्द्रियवृत्तिविभ्रमस्तुष्टाव जन्यं विसृजञ्जनार्दनम् ॥ ३१ ॥
viśuddhayā dhāraṇayā hatāśubhas
tad-īkṣayaivāśu gatā-yudha-vyathaḥ
nivṛtta-sarvendriya-vṛtti-vibhramas
tuṣṭāva janyaṁ visṛjañ janārdanam

Synonyms

viśuddhayā — by completely pure; dhāraṇayā — focus of mental attention; hata-aśubhaḥ — all of Bhīṣma’s improprieties were destroyed [his improprieties in the form of the obstacles to the attainment of Bhagavān (bhagavat-prāpti pratibandhakaṁ pāpam)95]; tat-īkṣayā eva — merely by Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s merciful glance [tasya śrī kṛṣṇasyekṣayā kṛpā-dṛṣṭyaiva96]; yudha-vyathaḥ — his pains incurred in the war [āyudha-śramāḥ97]; gatā — were dispelled; āśu — at once; visṛjan — while giving up; janyam — his body [deham98]; vibhramaḥ — the varied fluctuations [or vacillations (vividha-brahmaṇam asthairyam);99 meaning the wanderings to other objects (viṣayāntareṣu bhramaṇam)100]; sarvendriya-vṛtti — of the functions of all his senses; nivṛttaḥ — ceased; tuṣṭāva — as he praised; janārdanam — Janārdana [Śrī Kṛṣṇa].

Translation

By completely pure focus of mental attention, all of Bhīṣma’s improprieties were destroyed. Merely by Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s merciful glance, his pains incurred in the war were dispelled at once. While giving up his body, the functions of all his senses ceased their varied fluctuations, as he praised Janārdana [Śrī Kṛṣṇa].
