यद्विजिज्ञासया युक्ता मुह्यन्ति कवयोऽपि हि ॥ १६ ॥
yad vijijñāsayā yuktā muhyanti kavayo’pi hi
Synonyms
rājan — O King; na hi pumān — there is no one; karhicit — at all; veda — who knows; asya — His [Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s, as if pointing to Him directly with his finger (śrī kṛṣṇasyeti aṅgulyā darśayati)52]; vidhitsitam — hidden intention [(gūḍho’bhiprāyaḥ);53 what He truly intends to accomplish (kartum iṣṭam)]; vijijñāsayā — on inquiring into [on endeavoring to know by inquiring into (vijijñāsayā yuktāḥ vijñātuṁ pravṛttāḥ)54]; yad — which [yasya]; kavayaḥ api — even the self-realized mystics [who have realized the conclusions of all scriptures (sarva-śāstrajñā api);55 including even Brahmā, Rudra, and so on56]; yuktāḥ — endowed with fine discrimination [vivekinaḥ57]; muhyanti hi — are indeed bewildered [(moham eva prāpnuvanti), being utterly bereft of any definitive conclusion in this regard (siddhāntālābhāt)58].
Translation
O King, there is no one at all who knows Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s hidden intention, on inquiring into which, even the self-realized mystics, endowed with fine discrimination, are indeed bewildered.
