SB 1.9.12

अहो कष्टमहोऽन्याय्यं यद्यूयं धर्मनन्दनाः ।
जीवितुं नार्हथ क्लिष्टं विप्रधर्माच्युताश्रयाः ॥ १२ ॥
aho kaṣṭam aho’nyāyyaṁ yad yūyaṁ dharma-nandanāḥ
jīvituṁ nārhatha kliṣṭaṁ vipra-dharmācyutāśrayāḥ

Synonyms

aho kaṣṭam — Oh, how painful [or abhorrent (jugupsitam)37]; aho anyāyyam — [and] unjust; yūyam — [that] you; dharma-nandanāḥ — the sons of Dharma [although in reality only Yudhiṣṭhira was the son of Dharma (yadyapi yudhiṣṭhira eva dharma-putraḥ), yet because of his seniority (tathāpi tat-pradhānyena sthitā iti), all his brothers were addressed in the same manner (sarve tattvena vyapadiśyante)38]; jīvitum — had to endure a life; kliṣṭam — of such acute suffering [kliṣṭaṁ yathā bhavaty evam]; na arhatha — [which] you did not at all deserve [yogyo na bhavāma39]; yad — because [yataḥ]; āśrayāḥ — you are fully surrendered to [(ekaikāśritāḥ);40 having as your sole refuge (āśrayo yeṣāṁ te)]; vipra — the brāhmaṇas; dharma — dharma; acyuta — [and] Acyuta [Śrī Kṛṣṇa].

Translation

Oh, how painful and unjust it is that you, the sons of Dharma, had to endure a life of such acute suffering, which you did not at all deserve, because you are fully surrendered to the brāhmaṇas, dharma, and Śrī Kṛṣṇa!
