श्रवणस्मरणार्हाणि करिष्यन्निति केचन ॥ ३५ ॥
śravaṇa-smaraṇārhāṇi kariṣyann iti kecana
Synonyms
kecana — others; [say (āhuḥ)133]; iti — thus; [that You appeared (tvaṁ jātaḥ)]; kariṣyan — with the intent to perform [kartum icchan]; [karmāṇi134] arhāṇi — [acts] worthy; śravaṇa — to be heard; smaraṇa — [and] deliberated upon; [for the cessation of the miseries (tan-nivṛttaye)]; kliśyamānānām — of those who are tormented; asmin — in this; bhave — world [loke135]; avidyā — by primordial ignorance [of Your essential nature of supreme bliss (paramānanda-svarūpājñānam)]; [tataḥ] kāma — [by its ensuing effect in the form of] worldly desire [rooted in the misidentification of the self with the body (dehādy-abhimānāt)]; [tataḥ] karmabhiḥ — [and] by the latter’s consequence in the form of conditional action [that conforms to the performer’s desire (tad-upayuktāni karmāṇi)136].
Translation
Others say that You appeared with the intent to perform acts worthy to be heard and deliberated upon for the cessation of the miseries of those who are tormented in this world by primordial ignorance (avidyā), by its ensuing effect in the form of worldly desire (kāma), and by the latter’s consequence in the form of conditional action (karma).
