bhakti-yoga-vidhānārthaṁ kathaṁ paśyema hi striyaḥ
Synonyms
tathā — in the same manner [You, of such glory, cannot be known (nija-mahimā na lakṣyase)74]; parama-haṁsānām [api] — [even by] highly self-realized beings [who are able to discriminate between spirit and matter (ātmānātma-vivekinām)]; munīnām — [and] contemplative sages [manana-śīlānām api]; amala-ātmanām — whose hearts are cleansed of all impurity [such as attachment and so on (nivṛtta-rāgādīnām api); meaning the living liberated (jīvan-muktānām), who have transcended the defilement of the material guṇas (guṇa-maya-mālinyān niṣkrāntānām)75]; [ataḥ] katham hi — so how indeed; striyaḥ — [can we] women; paśyema — know [jānīmahi76]; [You (tvām), who, attracting even the ātmārāma sages by Your inconceivable divine qualities (ātmārāmān munīn api acintya-nija-guṇair ākṛṣya), have appeared (avatīrṇam)]; vidhāna-artham — to grant [to bring about the manifestation of (kārayitum)]; bhakti-yoga — the yoga of unalloyed devotion [even to such highly self-realized beings (para-haṁsānām api)].
Translation
In the same manner, You [of such glory] cannot be known even by highly self-realized beings (paramahaṁsas) and contemplative sages (munis), whose hearts are cleansed of all impurity. So how indeed can we women know You, who have appeared to grant bhakti-yoga even to such paramahaṁsa sages?
