SB 1.8.18
नमस्ये पुरुषं त्वाद्यमीश्वरं प्रकृतेः परम् ।
अलक्ष्यं सर्वभूतानामन्तर्बहिरवस्थितम् ॥ १८ ॥
namasye puruṣaṁ tvādyam īśvaraṁ prakṛteḥ param
alakṣyaṁ sarva-bhūtānām antar bahir avasthitam
Synonyms
kuntī — Kuntī; uvāca — said; namasye — I offer obeisance [namaskaromi66]; tvā — unto You [(tvām), to which Kṛṣṇa might question, “How is it that you (My aunt) offer obeisance to Me, who am junior to you?” (nanu kaniṣṭhaṁ māṁ kathaṁ namaskaroṣi)]; [in reply, Kuntī says (tatrāha), You are]; ādyam — the Primeval; puruṣam — Person; [“How so?” (kutaḥ) Because You are]; param — beyond; prakṛteḥ — primordial nature; [“How so?” (tat kutaḥ) Because You are]; īśvaram — the Supreme Regulator [even of primordial nature (prakṛter api niyantāram)]; [therefore (ataeva), You are]; [pūrṇatvena] avasthitam — situated in a complete manner; antaḥ — [both] within; bahiḥ — [and] without; sarva-bhūtānām — all living beings; [and yet (tathāpi), You are]; alakṣyam — imperceptible.
Translation
Kuntī said: I offer obeisance unto You, the Primeval Person, who are beyond primordial nature (prakṛti), because You are the Supreme Regulator [of that nature], and though You are situated in a complete manner both within and without all living beings, You are yet imperceptible.
