वैष्णवं तेज आसाद्य समशाम्यद् भृगूद्वह ॥ १५ ॥
vaiṣṇavaṁ teja āsādya samaśāmyad bhṛgūdvaha
Synonyms
bhṛgu-udvaha — O descendant of the Bhṛgu dynasty [Śaunaka]; yadyapi — although; brahma-śiraḥ — the brahmāstra; astram — weapon; apratikriyam — could not be counteracted by any means [kenāpy anivāryam58]; amogham ca — and was [thus (ata eva)] unfailing [or indestructible (apratihatam)]; tu — yet; āsādya — when it encountered [samagāt]; tejaḥ — the effulgent power [meaning the effulgent Sudarśana disc (tejo-rūpaṁ sudarśanam)]; vaiṣṇavam — of Viṣṇu or Kṛṣṇa [viṣṇoḥ sambandhi]; samaśāmyat — it was diffused [saśāntam āsīt59].
Translation
O descendant of the Bhṛgu dynasty [Śaunaka], although the brahmāstra weapon could not be counteracted by any means and was thus unfailing, yet when it encountered Kṛṣṇa’s effulgent power, it was diffused.
