SB 1.7.47

मा रोदीदस्य जननी गौतमी पतिदेवता ।
यथाहं मृतवत्सार्ता रोदिम्यश्रुमुखी मुहुः ॥ ४७ ॥
mā rodīd asya jananī gautamī pati-devatā
yathāhaṁ mṛta-vatsārtā rodimy aśru-mukhī muhuḥ

Synonyms

asya — his [Aśvatthāmā’s]; jananī — mother [mātā175]; gautamī — Gautamī [a descendant of Gautama, also known as Kṛpī (gautama-kulotpannā kṛpī);176 implying that because she was born in a lineage of ṛṣis, it would be a great iniquity on our part to cause her bewailment (ṛṣi-vaṁśodbhavatvāt tad-rodane mahān anartha iti sūcitam)177]; pati-devatā — who was devoted to her husband [for whom her husband was revered as a god (patir eva devatā yasyāḥ sā)178]; mā rodīt — should not wail [mā roditu179]; yathā — as; aham — I; ārtā — [who] being aggrieved [duḥkhitā180]; mṛta-vatsā — at the death of my children [mṛta-putrā181]; muhuḥ — repeatedly [(muhur muhuḥ);182 or incessantly (aniśam)183]; rodimi — weep; aśru-mukhī — my face covered with tears.

Translation

His mother, Gautamī, the devoted wife of Droṇa, should not wail like me, who, being aggrieved at the death of my children, repeatedly weep, my face covered with tears.
