श्रुत्वा भगवता प्रोक्तं फाल्गुनः परवीरहा ।
स्पृष्ट्वापस्तं परिक्रम्य ब्राह्मं ब्राह्माय सन्दधे ॥ २९ ॥
śrutvā bhagavatā proktaṁ phālgunaḥ para-vīra-hā
spṛṣṭvāpas taṁ parikramya brāhmaṁ brāhmāya sandadhe
Synonyms
sūtaḥ — Śrī Sūta; uvāca — said; śrutvā — after hearing; proktam — what was said; bhagavatā — by Bhagavān; phālgunaḥ — Arjuna [“who was born under the Phālguna asterism”]; para-vīra-hā — the slayer of rival heroes [pare śatravaḥ ta eva virās tān hantīti118]; spṛṣṭvā — sipped [ācamya]; āpaḥ — water [for ritual purification]; parikramya — circumambulated [pradakṣiṇī kṛtya]; tam — Him [Śrī Kṛṣṇa]; sandadhe — [and] launched [prayuyoja119]; brāhmam — another weapon of Brahmā; brāhmāya — to counteract the [first] weapon of Brahmā [brahmāstraṁ nivartayitum].
Translation
Śrī Sūta said: After hearing what was said by Bhagavān, Arjuna, the slayer of rival heroes, sipped water, circumambulated Him, and launched another brahmāstra to counteract the first one.
