गाण्डीवमुक्तैर्विशिखैरुपाहरे त्वाक्रम्य यत्स्नास्यसि दग्धपुत्रा ॥ १६ ॥
yad brahma-bandhoḥ śira ātatāyinaḥ
gāṇḍīva-muktair viśikhair upāhare
tv’ākramya yat snāsyasi dagdha-putrā
Synonyms
bhadre — O gentle lady; tadā — at that time alone; pramṛjāmi — will I have wiped away [parimārjayāmi71]; te — your; śucaḥ — tears of grief [śokāśruṇi]; yat — when [yadā]; śiraḥ — the head; ātatāyinaḥ — of that murderous; brahma-bandhoḥ — and degraded brāhmaṇa [the lowest of brāhmaṇas (brāhmaṇā-dhamasya)]; [has been cut off]; viśikhaiḥ — by the arrows [bāṇaiḥ]; gāṇḍīva-muktaiḥ — released from my Gāṇḍīva bow; upāhare — [and] presented to you [tvat-samīpam ānayāmi]; yat tu — so that; ākramya — you may tread upon it [make it the pedestal upon which you step (āsanaṁ vidhāya)]; snāsyasi — [and then] take your ceremonial bath; dagdha-putrā — after completing the cremation rite for your dead sons.
Translation
O gentle lady, at that time alone will I have wiped away your tears of grief when the head of that murderous and degraded brāhmaṇa has been cut off by the arrows released from my Gāṇḍīva bow and presented to you, so that you may tread upon it and then take your ceremonial bath after completing the cremation rite for your dead sons.
