आहूत इव मे शीघ्रं दर्शनं याति चेतसि ॥ ३४ ॥
āhūta iva me śīghraṁ darśanaṁ yāti cetasi
Synonyms
pragāyataḥ — when I sing [with great love (prakarṣeṇa prema-pūrvakaṁ gāyataḥ)161]; sva-vīryāṇi — the heroic deeds of Him [Bhagavān]; priya-śravāḥ — whose glory is most endearing [whose glory is a source of delight for His devotees (priyaṁ bhaktānāṁ prīty āvahaṁ śravo yaśo yasya saḥ);162 and because of the delightfulness of His own glory, He Himself appears wherever His glory is sung (priya-śravā iti sva-yaśaḥ priyatvād yatra yatra yaśo-gānaṁ tatrāyāti)163]; tīrtha-pādaḥ — [and] whose feet are the source of all holy places [whose feet are the ground and refuge of all sacred places, such as the Gaṅgā (tīrthau pavitrau gaṅgādi-tīrthāśrayau vā pādau yasya), or whose feet are themselves a sacred place of pilgrimage (tīrthaṁ pāde yasyeti vā);164 implying further that wherever He goes, that place becomes a holy place (yatrāyāti tat-tīrthaṁ bhavati)165]; [He (saḥ)166]; śīghram — immediately; yāti — proceeds; darśanam — to make Himself visible [meaning that He is directly attained by me in the form that accords with my internal longing (svārasya labdham)167]; me cetasi — in my heart; iva — as if; āhūtaḥ — summoned; [by me (mayā), in reality, however, He is not called by me but appears of His own accord out of mercy (vastuta āhvāhnaṁ tu mayā na kriyate, kintu kṛpayā svayam eva prādurbhavati), this is the significance of the word iva, “as if” (iti sūcanāya iva śabda-prayogaḥ)168].
Translation
When I sing of the heroic deeds of Bhagavān, whose glory is most endearing and whose feet are the source of all holy places, He immediately makes Himself visible in my heart, as if summoned by me.
