भवसिन्धुप्लवो दृष्टो हरिचर्यानुवर्णनम् ॥ ३५ ॥
bhava-sindhu-plavo dṛṣṭo hari-caryānuvarṇanam
Synonyms
etat — this; anuvarṇanam hi — very act of continuously describing; hari-carya — the deeds of Bhagavān Hari, Śrī Kṛṣṇa [here by the reference to kīrtana, which is the primary form of bhakti, all other limbs of bhakti are implied (atra … bhakteḥ kīrtanasya mukhyatvāt kīrtanopalakṣitā sarvair eva bhaktir jñeyā)169]; dṛṣṭaḥ — is directly perceived [meaning that it has been directly experienced by me and hence not dependent on any other proof (mayā sākṣāt pratyakṣīkṛtaḥ nātra pramāṇāpekṣeti bhāvaḥ); or that it is immediately intuited both positively and negatively and not only established on the basis of scriptural authority (na kevalaṁ śruti-prāmāṇyena kintu anvaya-vyatirekābhyāṁ dṛṣṭa evety arthaḥ)170]; plavaḥ — [as] a boat; [for crossing]; bhava-sindhu — the ocean of material existence; ātura-cittānām — for those whose minds are tormented; muhuḥ — incessantly; icchayā — by the urge; mātrā-sparśa — to appropriate [or enjoy] sense objects [mātrā viṣayās teṣāṁ sparśā bhogās].
Translation
This very act of continuously describing the deeds of Bhagavān Hari, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, is directly experienced as a boat for crossing the ocean of material existence for those whose minds are incessantly tormented by the urge to appropriate sense objects.
