SB 1.6.28

एवं कृष्णमतेर्ब्रह्मन्नासक्तस्यामलात्मनः ।
कालः प्रादुरभूत्काले तडित्सौदामनी यथा ॥ २८ ॥
evaṁ kṛṣṇa-mater brahmann āsaktasyāmalātmanaḥ
kālaḥ prādurabhūt kāle taḍit saudāmanī yathā

Synonyms

brahman — O brāhmaṇa [Vyāsa]; kālaḥ — the moment [of death (mṛtyuḥ);131 the previously long-awaited moment (yaṁ kālaṁ pratīkṣamāṇaḥ pūrvaṁ cirāt);132 or the occasion of Bhagavān’s mercy (tat-kṛpāvasaraḥ)133]; prādurabhūt — appeared [āvirbabhūva]; kāle — at its own appointed time [(svāvasare); upon termination of the prārabdha-karma that occasioned the body (dehārambhaka-prārabdhāvasāna-kāle)134]; yathā — like; saudāmanī — a sudden flash [or a brilliant garland of light appearing in the shape of a streak (sudāmā mālā tatra bhavā saudāmanī mālākārety arthaḥ)]; taḍit — [of] lightning [vidyut135]; [to me (mama)136]; evam kṛṣṇa-mateḥ — whose mind was thus fixed on Kṛṣṇa [kṛṣṇe bhagavaty eva matir yasya137]; āsaktasya — who had developed loving attachment for Him [or who was free from attachment to the objects of the senses (śabdādi-viṣayeṣv asaktasya)138]; amala-ātmanaḥ — [and] whose heart was pure [viśuddhaḥ ātmā mano yasya139].

Translation

O brāhmaṇa [Vyāsa], the moment of death appeared at its own appointed time, like a sudden flash of lightning, to me, whose mind was thus fixed on Kṛṣṇa, who had developed loving attachment for Him, and whose heart was pure.
