तस्य जन्म महाश्चर्यं कर्माणि च गृणीहि नः ॥ ९ ॥
tasya janma mahāścaryaṁ karmāṇi ca gṛṇīhi naḥ
Synonyms
sūta — O Sūta; prāhuḥ — [people] universally proclaim [implying a celebrated fact known to all (sarva-loka-prasiddhaḥ)33]; abhimanyu-sutam — the son of Abhimanyu [King Parīkṣit34]; bhāgavata-uttamam — as a highly realized devotee of Bhagavān [or as the foremost of bhāgavatas (bhāgavateṣu uttamam)35]; [therefore (ataḥ)36]; gṛṇīhi — kindly relate [kathaya37]; naḥ — to us [asmākam38]; mahā-āścaryam — the most astonishing [story (ativāścaryaṁ caritam)39]; tasya — of his; janma — birth; ca — and; karmāṇi — deeds.
Translation
O Sūta, people universally proclaim the son of Abhimanyu [King Parīkṣit] as a highly realized devotee of Bhagavān. Therefore, kindly relate to us the most astonishing story of his birth and deeds.
