संवादः समभूत्तात यत्रैषा सात्वती श्रुतिः ॥ ७ ॥
saṁvādaḥ samabhūt tāta yatraiṣā sātvatī śrutiḥ

tāta — my dear [Sūta]; katham vā — how moreover; [did]; saṁvādaḥ — the conversation; rājarṣeḥ — of the sage-like king; pāṇḍaveyasya — who appeared in the Pāṇḍu dynasty [Parīkṣit24]; muninā saha — with the introverted sage [Śuka (śukena saha);25 who was of the nature just described (evam bhūtena)26]; samabhūt — occur; yatra — in the course of which [discussion (saṁvāde)]; eṣā — this; sātvatī — Vaiṣṇavī [concerning Bhagavān (bhāgavatī)]; śrutiḥ — scripture [(saṁhitā); which is the essence of the Vedas (veda-sāraḥ)27]; [was disclosed (pravṛttā)28].
Translation
My dear [Sūta], how, moreover, did the conversation occur between the sage-like king [Parīkṣit], who appeared in the Pāṇḍu dynasty, and the introverted sage [Śuka], in the course of which, this Vaiṣṇava scripture was disclosed?
