SB 1.4.6

कथमालक्षितः पौरैः सम्प्राप्तः कुरुजाङ्गलान् ।
उन्मत्तमूकजडवद्विचरन्गजसाह्वये ॥ ६ ॥
katham ālakṣitaḥ pauraiḥ samprāptaḥ kuru-jāṅgalān
unmatta-mūka-jaḍavad vicaran gaja-sāhvaye

Synonyms

samprāptaḥ — [when Śuka] reached; kuru-jāṅgalān — the land of Kuru-jāṅgala; vicaran — he wandered; gaja-sāhvaye — in the city of Hastināpura [hāstinākhye pure22]; vat — as if; unmatta — deranged; mūka — mute; jaḍavat — [and] devoid of sense; katham — how; ālakṣitaḥ — was he recognized [jñātaḥ23]; pauraiḥ — by the citizens.

Translation

When Śuka reached the land of Kuru-jāṅgala, he wandered the city of Hastināpura as if deranged, mute, and devoid of sense. How was he recognized by the citizens?
