Synonyms
[Vyāsa himself then intuits the cause of his feeling of incompletion in the following verse (asampattau hetuṁ svayam eva āśaṅkate kim vā iti).132]; kim vā — is this [because (yataḥ)133]; dharmāḥ — the dharmas; bhāgavatāḥ — that pertain directly to Bhagavān [(bhagavat-sambandhināḥ);134 by which is meant bhakti and not jñāna (bhāgavata-dharma-padena jñānaṁ vyākhyātuṁ na śak-yate kintu bhaktir eva)]; na nirūpitāḥ — have not been delineated; prāyeṇa — sufficiently [extensively (bhūyatvena); or primarily (mukhyatvena)135]; [by me (mayā)136]; [it is only these dharmas (te eva)137]; priyāḥ — [that are] dear; paramahaṁsānām — to the most highly elevated devotees [here implying the bhaktas and not the jñānīs (paramahaṁsa-padena bhaktā eva ucyante na tu jñāninaḥ)]; hi — since [yasmāt138]; te eva — they alone; acyuta-priyāḥ — are pleasing to Bhagavān Acyuta [Śrī Kṛṣṇa].
Translation
Is this because I have insufficiently delineated the dharmas that pertain directly to Bhagavān? It is only these dharmas that are dear to the most highly elevated devotees since they alone are pleasing to Bhagavān Acyuta [Śrī Kṛṣṇa].
