मन्ये त्वां विषये वाचां स्नातमन्यत्र छान्दसात् ॥ १३ ॥
manye tvāṁ viṣaye vācāṁ snātam anyatra chāndasāt
Synonyms
samācakṣva — please elaborately describe [samyag ākhyāhi54]; naḥ — to us [asmabhyam55]; tat sarvam — all of the topics; yat kiñcana — which [lit., “whatsoever”]; pṛṣṭaḥ — have been inquired about; [by us (asmābhiḥ)56]; iha — in this regard [asyāvasthāyām57]; [since (yasmāt)]; manye — I consider; tvām — you; snātam — to be thoroughly versed [having completed your study of the śāstra from beginning to end (pāraṅgatam); and hence competent to speak (vaktum iti samartham ity arthaḥ)58]; viṣaye — in all subjects [implicit within the complete range of meaning (gocare arthe)]; vācām — of sacred speech [in the form of the Itihāsas, Purāṇas, and so on (itihāsa-purāṇādi-rūpānām)59]; anyatra — other than [vyatirekeṇa]; chāndasāt — the Vedic hymns [vaidikād vākhyāt60].
Translation
Please elaborately describe to us all of the topics that we have inquired about in this regard, since I consider you to be thoroughly versed in all subjects implicit within the complete range of sacred speech, other than the Vedic hymns.
