Translation
For their own well-being, his enemies used to bring expensive gifts and openly offer homage to his footstool. So why, my dear Sūta, did this hero [Parīkṣit], in the prime of youth, choose to forego his royal wealth, which is so difficult to give up, along with his life itself?
