कुर्वन्ति सर्वात्मकमात्मभावं न यत्र भूयः परिवर्त उग्रः ॥ ३९ ॥
yad vāsudeve’khila-loka-nāthe
kurvanti sarvātmakam ātma-bhāvaṁ
na yatra bhūyaḥ parivarta ugraḥ
Synonyms
atha — therefore [because only a devotee can understand the truth of Bhagavān (yato bhakta eva bhagavat-tattvaṁ jānāti)183]; bhagavantaḥ — you all-knowing sages [sarvajñāḥ bhavantaḥ]; dhanyāḥ — are truly blessed [or fulfilled (kṛtārthaḥ)]; iha — in this world; yat — because [yasmāt]; ittham — in this manner [through your inquiries (praśnaiḥ)]; kurvanti — you are focusing; ātma-bhāvam — the essence of your mental attention [manaḥ vṛttim]; sarva-ātmakam — steeped in the exclusive totality of being [aikāntikam]; vāsudeve — on Bhagavān Vāsudeva [Śrī Kṛṣṇa]; akhila-loka-nāthe — the supreme refuge of the cosmic whole; yatra — in which [state of awareness (yasmin bhāve sati)]; ugraḥ — the terrifying [bhayaṅkaraḥ184]; parivartaḥ — cycle [of birth and death (janma-maraṇādy-āvartaḥ)]; na [bhavati] — never occurs; bhūyaḥ — again [punaḥ185].
Translation
Therefore, you all-knowing sages are truly blessed in this world, because through your inquiries, you are focusing the essence of your mental attention — steeped in the exclusive totality of being — on Bhagavān Vāsudeva [Śrī Kṛṣṇa], the supreme refuge of the cosmic whole, in which state of awareness the terrifying cycle of birth and death never reoccurs.
