योऽमायया सन्ततयानुवृत्त्या भजेत तत्पादसरोजगन्धम् ॥ ३८ ॥
duranta-vīryasya rathāṅga-pāṇeḥ
yo’māyayā santatayānuvṛttyā
bhajeta tat-pāda-saroja-gandham
Synonyms
saḥ [eva] — he alone [the devotee alone (bhagavad-bhakta eva)177]; yaḥ — who; santatayā — constantly [nirantarayā178]; bhajeta — worships; gandham — the fragrance; tat-pāda-saroja — [of] Bhagavān’s lotus feet; amāyayā — without duplicity [(akuṭila-bhāvena);179 without any desire to procure the fruit of such worship from Bhagavān (bhagavataḥ sakāśāt phala-grahaṇābhilāṣa-rāhityena)]; anuvṛttyā — by way of congenial service [(ānukūlyena);180 (sevayā)]; veda — can know [to some extent (kathañcit jānāti)181]; padavīm182 — the method of play [līlā-mārgam]; ratha-aṅga-pāṇeḥ — of Bhagavān, the wielder of the disc weapon; dhātuḥ — who is the agent behind the creation [the cause of all causes (sarva-kāraṇa-kāraṇasya)]; parasya — the supreme transcendence [beyond all methods of validation (sarva-pramāṇāgocarasya)]; vīryasya — [and] He whose power [or influence (prabhāvam)]; duranta — is limitless [or immeasurable (amitam)].
Translation
He alone who constantly worships the fragrance of Bhagavān’s lotus feet without duplicity by way of congenial service can know to some extent the method of play of Bhagavān, the wielder of the disc weapon, who is the agent behind the creation, the supreme transcendence, and He whose power is limitless.
