SB 1.3.10

पञ्चमः कपिलो नाम सिद्धेशः कालविप्लुतम् ।
प्रोवाचासुरये साङ्ख्यं तत्त्वग्रामविनिर्णयम् ॥ १० ॥
pañcamaḥ kapilo nāma siddheśaḥ kāla-viplutam
provācāsuraye sāṅkhyaṁ tattva-grāma-vinirṇayam

Synonyms

pañcamaḥ — the fifth advent [avatāra55]; [of the Puruṣa]; nāma — named; kapilaḥ — Kapila; siddheśaḥ — [who is] the master of all perfected beings [of those who are perfected (siddhānām), or established in their own essential being (sva-svarūpāpannānām) through factual ascertainment of the self (ātma-yāthātmyānusandhāna yogena)]; provāca — imparted teachings; āsuraye — to the brāhmaṇa named Āsuri [tan-nāmne brāhmaṇāya56]; sāṅkhyam — regarding the Sāṅkhya philosophy; vinirṇayam — which precisely determines the nature of [which is the line of scriptural teaching that “authentically” determines ([yāthātmya] nirṇayo yasmin śāstre)57]; tattva-grāma — the evolutionary principles as a whole [as a collective unit (tattvānāṁ grāmasya saṁghasya);58 beginning with primordial nature (prakṛti) and cosmic intellect (mahat)]; viplutam — [a doctrine] that had been lost [or that disappeared (tirohitam)]; kāla — [due to the influence of] time [and the absence of a qualified preceptor (pravarttayitṛ-rahitena)].

Translation

The fifth avatāra of the Puruṣa, named Kapila, who is the master of all perfected beings, imparted teachings to the brāhmaṇa Āsuri regarding the Sāṅkhya philosophy, which precisely determines the nature of the evolutionary principles (tattvas) as a whole — a doctrine that had been lost due to the influence of time.
