भगवत्तत्त्वविज्ञानं मुक्तसङ्गस्य जायते ॥ २० ॥
bhagavat-tattva-vijñānaṁ mukta-saṅgasya jāyate
Synonyms
prasanna-manasaḥ — of [i.e., to] one whose consciousness is established in perfect serenity [in the state of unalloyed being (śuddha-sattve);77 referring to the first dawning of divine love (utpanna-rater ity arthaḥ)78]; evam — in the manner just described [(anena-prakāreṇa), meaning by first ascending to the stage of āsakti and then continuously engaging in bhajana to Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa (āsakti-pūrvakaṁ pratikṣaṇaṁ bhagavataḥ kṛṣṇasya bhajanaṁ kurvataḥ)]; [tataḥ79] mukta-saṅgasya — [and] who is thus freed of all attachment [the habit patterns of desire and so on (tyakta-kāmādi-vāsanasya);80 on the arising of detachment (utpanna-vairāgyasya)]; vijñānam — direct experiential awareness [(sākṣātkāraḥ);81 or immediate experience (anubhavaḥ)]; bhagavat-tattva — [of] the existential truth of Bhagavān [of His essential nature, qualities, divine play, majesty, and supreme mellifluousness (svarūpa-guṇa-līlaiśvarya-mādhuryasya)]; jāyate — is immediately self-disclosed [even without any internal or external prompting (manasi bahir vā bhāvanāṁ vinaivānubhavaḥ)82]; bhakti-yogataḥ — through the influence of bhakti [meaning divine love (prema tasmāt)]; bhagavat — to Bhagavān; [now enacted again (punar api kriyamāṇāt tasmāt);83 in the stage of bhakti’s fruition (bhakteḥ phalam)].
Translation
To one whose consciousness is established in perfect serenity [śuddha-sattva] in the manner just described, and who is thus freed of all attachment, direct experiential awareness of the existential truth of Bhagavān is immediately self-disclosed through the influence of bhakti [prema] to Bhagavān [now enacted again in the stage of bhakti’s fruition].
