SB 1.19.31
प्रणम्य मूर्ध्नावहितः कृताञ्जलिर्नत्वा गिरा सूनृतयान्वपृच्छत् ॥ ३१ ॥
muniṁ nṛpo bhāgavato’bhyupetya
praṇamya mūrdhnāvahitaḥ kṛtāñjalir
natvā girā sūnṛtayānvapṛcchat
Synonyms
abhyupetya — approaching [abhimukhaṁ samīpam āgatya239]; munim — the sage; akuṇṭha-medhasam — [of] acute intellective insight [whose penetrating intellect was free from all coverings in regard to the essential import of all scriptures (sarva-śāstrārtham āvaraṇa-rahitā medhā buddhir yasya tam)]; praśāntam — who was perfectly serene [as a concomitant effect of his immediate intuition of the self (prakṛṣṭa-śāntir jñāna-kāryā);240 meaning that he was freed from anger and other such defilements (krodhādi-doṣa-rahitam)]; āsīnam — [and] comfortably seated [sukham upaviṣṭam]; nṛpaḥ — the king; bhāgavataḥ — who was a great devotee; praṇamya — offered obeisance to him; mūrdhnā — by bowing his head [to the ground]; [then]; avahitaḥ — fully attentive [sāvadhānaś ca san]; kṛta-añjaliḥ — [and] with palms joined together [baddāñjaliḥ]; natvā — [he] bowed [once again with the intent to put forth his questions (praśnārthaṁ punar natvā)241]; sūnṛtayā — [and] with a melodious [madhurayā242]; girā — voice; anvapṛcchat — inquired from him [in the following manner].
Translation
Approaching the sage of acute intellective insight, who was perfectly serene and comfortably seated, the king, who was a great devotee, offered obeisance to him by bowing his head to the ground. Then, fully attentive and with palms joined together, he bowed once again and, with a melodious voice, inquired from him in the following manner.
