आभाषतैनानभिनन्द्य युक्तान्शुश्रूषमाणश्चरितानि विष्णोः ॥ २२ ॥
samaṁ madhu-cyud guru cāvyalīkam
ābhāṣatainān abhinandya yuktān
śuśrūṣamāṇaś caritāni viṣṇoḥ
Synonyms
āśrutya — hearing [ākarṇya164]; tat — those; vacaḥ — words; ṛṣi-gaṇa — [of] the sages [teṣāṁ munīnām165]; samam — [which were] impartial [devoid of personal bias (pakṣa-pāta-śūnyam)]; madhu-cyut — mellifluous [like a shower of nectar (amṛta-śrāvi); or captivating to the mind (manohara-śabdam)166]; guru — profound [of unfathomable import (gambhīrārtham)]; ca — and; avyalīkam — truthful [satyam]; parīkṣit — Parīkṣit; śuśrūṣamāṇaḥ — who was eager to hear [śrotu-kāmaḥ167]; caritāni — the narrations; viṣṇoḥ — of Viṣṇu, Śrī Kṛṣṇa; abhinandya — bowed down; enān — to those [sages (ṛṣīn)168]; yuktān — of integrally focused awareness [(samāhitān);169 or whose demeanor was naturally prone to promote the self’s ultimate good (ātma-hitācaraṇodyuktān)170]; ābhāṣata — [and] spoke to them [as follows].
Translation
Hearing those words of the sages, which were impartial, mellifluous, profound, and truthful, Parīkṣit, who was eager to hear the narrations of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, bowed down to those sages, of integrally focused awareness, and spoke to them as follows.
