महत्सु यां यामुपयामि सृष्टिं मैत्र्यस्तु सर्वत्र नमो द्विजेभ्यः ॥ १६ ॥
ratiḥ prasaṅgaś ca tad-āśrayeṣu
mahatsu yāṁ yām upayāmi sṛṣṭiṁ
maitry astu sarvatra namo dvijebhyaḥ
Synonyms
punaḥ ca — again [punar api126]; yām yām — [in] whatever; sṛṣṭim — birth [janma]; upayāmi — I might obtain [prāpnomi]; bhūyāt — may there be [by the grace of all you sages (bhavad-anugraheṇāstu);127 i.e., may you be pleased to grace me with the following (mama evam anugṛhīteti bhāvaḥ)128]; ratiḥ — love [or highly intensified pure devotion (ati bhaktiḥ)129]; anante — for the unlimited; bhagavati — Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa; prasaṅgaḥ ca — intimate association [prakṛṣṭaḥ saṅgaḥ]; mahatsu — with the exalted devotees; tat-āśrayeṣu — whose one and only refuge is Bhagavān [bhagavān āśrayo yeṣāṁ teṣu130]; maitrī — [and] friendship [the vision of equality or nondifference (aviṣamā dṛṣṭiḥ)131]; sarvatra — toward all living beings [sarva jīveṣu]; [then, out of remorse at having dishonored the brāhmaṇas, Parīkṣit prays for a fourth blessing (brāhmaṇānādara-jātānutāpam āha brāhmaṇebhyo namo bhūyād iti vāñchita catuṣṭayañ ca)]; astu — may there also be [i.e., may I also extend (bhūyāt)]; namaḥ — respectful obeisances; dvijebhyaḥ — unto the brāhmaṇas.
Translation
Again, in whatever birth I might obtain, may you be pleased to grace me with love for the unlimited Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa, intimate association with the exalted devotees whose one and only refuge is Bhagavān, and friendship toward all living beings. May I also extend respectful obeisances unto the brāhmaṇas.
