Translation
Having withdrawn his senses, vital force, mind, and intellect from their corresponding objects, the sage was established in the state of cessation from all external engagement. Thereupon, having attained transcendence [the fourth state (turīyam)], beyond the three states of consciousness [waking, dreaming, and deep sleep], he attained unicity with Brahman and was thus freed from all internal modifications [associated with duality].
