SB 1.16.16

सारथ्यपारषदसेवनसख्यदौत्य ।
वीरासनानुगमनस्तवनप्रणामान् ।
स्निग्धेषु पाण्डुषु जगत्प्रणतिं च विष्णोर् ।
भक्तिं करोति नृपतिश्चरणारविन्दे ॥ १६ ॥
sārathya-pāraṣada-sevana-sakhya-dautya-
vīrāsanānugamana-stavana-praṇāmān
snigdheṣu pāṇḍuṣu jagat-praṇatiṁ ca viṣṇor
bhaktiṁ karoti nṛ-patiś caraṇāravinde

Synonyms

[hearing (śṛṇvan)47]; jagat-praṇatim — [that] the entire world offers obeisances [lit., “hearing of the reverential submission of all possible conscious agents belonging to the entire universe or the cosmos as a whole” (jagat kartṛkām praṇatim)]; viṣṇoḥ — unto Viṣṇu, Śrī Kṛṣṇa [śrī kṛṣṇasya48]; ca — and [yet]; [out of affection (sneha-vaśāt)49]; snigdheṣu — for His beloved [anurakteṣu50]; pāṇḍuṣu — Pāṇḍavas [pāṇḍaveṣu]; [He had rendered various types of service to them (karmāṇi)]; sārathya — as a chariot driver; pāraṣada — head of their assembly [sabhā-patitvam]; sevana — servant [attending upon them by heart (cittānuvṛttiḥ)]; sakhya — friend; dautya — messenger; vīra-āsana — night watchman [maintaining a vigil throughout the night with sword in hand (rātrau khaḍga-hastasya tiṣṭhato jāgaraṇam)]; anugamana — [and] obedient follower; stavana — [and] that He offered praise; praṇāmān — [and] obeisances [unto them]; nṛ-patiḥ — the king [Parīkṣit]; karoti — was overcome; bhaktim — [with] devotion; caraṇa-aravinde — to the lotus feet; viṣṇoḥ — of Viṣṇu, Śrī Kṛṣṇa [śrī kṛṣṇasya51].

Translation

Hearing that the entire world offers obeisances unto Śrī Kṛṣṇa, and yet, out of affection for His beloved Pāṇḍavas, He had rendered various types of service to them as a chariot driver, head of their assembly, servant, friend, messenger, night watchman, and obedient follower, and that He offered praise and obeisances unto them, the king was overcome with devotion to the lotus feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
