SB 1.15.5
वञ्चितोऽहं महाराज हरिणा बन्धुरूपिणा ।
येन मेऽपहृतं तेजो देवविस्मापनं महत् ॥ ५ ॥
vañcito’haṁ mahā-rāja hariṇā bandhu-rūpiṇā
yena me’pahṛtaṁ tejo deva-vismāpanaṁ mahat
Synonyms
[Arjuna’s reply to Yudhiṣṭhira is given in the following twenty-three verses (uktim evāha vañcita iti trayo-viṁśatyā).17]; arjunaḥ — Arjuna; uvāca — said; mahā-rāja — O great King; aham — I; vañcitaḥ — have been cheated [or abandoned (tyaktaḥ)18]; hariṇā — by Hari [by He who removes the suffering of His surrendered devotees, Sākṣāt Bhagavān Himself (āśritārti-hareṇa sākṣād-bhagavatā)19]; bandhu-rūpiṇā — who appeared as my friend [or whom I had obtained as a friend (bandhu-rūpatāṁ prāptena);20 or as a relative, He being my maternal uncle’s son (mātula-putratvād bandhu-rūpatāṁ prāptena)21]; yena22 — [it is] by Him [by He who abandoned me (yena māṁ tyaktavatā)]; me — [that] my [mama]; mahat — magnificent; tejaḥ — prowess [specifically, the prowess that He Himself originally bestowed (tena tad-dattam eva teja iti bhāvaḥ)]; vismāpanam — [which was] astonishing [āścarya-karam23]; deva — [even to] the gods [devānām api]; apahṛtam — has now been taken away.
Translation
Arjuna said: O great King, I have been cheated by Hari [Śrī Kṛṣṇa], who appeared as my friend. It is by Him that my magnificent prowess, which was astonishing even to the gods, has now been taken away.
