मनसा धारयामासुर्वैकुण्ठचरणाम्बुजम् ॥ ४६ ॥
manasā dhārayāmāsur vaikuṇṭha-caraṇāmbujam
Synonyms
te — they [the Pāṇḍavas270]; sādhu-kṛta — had completely accomplished [samyak-kṛto’nuṣṭhitaḥ271]; sarva-arthāḥ — all of life’s primary aims [beginning with religion (dharmādayo yaiḥ);272 meaning that dharma, artha, kāma, and mokṣa were brought fully under their control (vaśīkṛta-dharmārtha-kāma-mokṣāḥ), yet (api)]; jñātvā — knowing; caraṇa-ambujam — the lotus feet; vaikuṇṭha — [of] Śrī Kṛṣṇa [śrī kṛṣṇasya]; ātmanaḥ — [as] their [svasya273]; ātyantikam — ultimate object of attainment [(parama-puruṣārtham); superior even to the other aims (tebhyo’py adhikam);274 and as the supreme refuge (śaraṇam)275]; [tad eva] manasā dhārayāmāsuḥ — they concentrated their minds [exclusively on them].
Translation
They [the Pāṇḍavas] had completely accomplished all of life’s primary aims [beginning with dharma], yet, knowing the lotus feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa as their ultimate object of attainment [parama-puruṣārtham], they concentrated their minds exclusively on them.
