कलिनाधर्ममित्रेण दृष्ट्वा स्पृष्टाः प्रजा भुवि ॥ ४५ ॥
kalinādharma-mitreṇa dṛṣṭvā spṛṣṭāḥ prajā bhuvi
Synonyms
dṛṣṭvā — seeing; prajāḥ — [how] the people; bhuvi — on earth; spṛṣṭāḥ — had become overpowered; kalinā — by Kali; mitreṇa — the friend; adharma — [of] irreligion; sarve — all; bhrātaraḥ — [of Yudhiṣṭhira’s] brothers; kṛta-niścayāḥ — firmly resolved within themselves [to depart (gamanāya kṛto niścayo yais te);267 or became firmly determined with the thought that “We too are now singularly focused on attaining Śrī Kṛṣṇa” (śrī kṛṣṇaṁ prāptuṁ vayam api tan-manaskā eva bhavāmeti kṛto niścayo yais te);268 or concluded that “This place (or this world) is no longer fit for us—rather, the path leading to Bhagavān’s own abode is alone worthy for us to embark upon” (asmābhir apy atra na stheyaṁ kintu bhagavad-dhāma-mārgam eva gantavyam iti kṛto niścayo yais te)269]; anu nirjagmuḥ — [and thus] set out after; tam — him.
Translation
Seeing how the people on earth had become overpowered by Kali, the friend of irreligion, all of Yudhiṣṭhira’s brothers firmly determined within themselves [to follow the path leading to Bhagavān’s own abode] and thus set out after him.
