एकान्तभक्त्या भगवत्यधोक्षजे निवेशितात्मोपरराम संसृतेः ॥ ३३ ॥
nāśaṁ yadūnāṁ bhagavad-gatiṁ ca tām
ekānta-bhaktyā bhagavaty adhokṣaje
niveśitātmopararāma saṁsṛteḥ
Synonyms
anuśrutya — having heard; nāśam — [about] the destruction [from the worldly perspective, when in reality it was merely the disappearance (loka-dṛṣṭyā vastutas tv adarśanam eva)183]; yadūnām — of the Yadus; ca — and; tām — [about] that [inscrutable (durvijñeyām);184 or celebrated (prasiddhām)185]; gatim — departure [disappearance (antardhāna-lakṣaṇām);186 or return to His own abode (sva-dhāma-gamanam);187 spoken of later in the Eleventh Canto (vakṣyati hy ekādaśe)188]; bhagavat — [of] Bhagavān [Śrī Kṛṣṇa]; uditam — told to her; dhanañjaya — [by] Arjuna; pṛthā — Kuntī; api — as well; niveśita-ātmā — fixed her mind [niveśita ātmā mano189]; eka-anta bhaktyā — with exclusive devotion [bereft of all other motive (ananya-prayojanayā);190 meaning with supreme love (para-premṇā)191]; bhagavati — on Bhagavān; adhokṣaje — Adhokṣaja [although He is inaccessible to all knowledge derived from sensory perception (indriya-janya-jñānāviṣaye’pi)192]; upararāma — [and thereby] ceased; saṁsṛteḥ — from worldly existence [meaning that she attained to the state of a jīvan-mukta or gave up the body (jīvan-muktā babhūva dehaṁ jahav iti vā);193 or brought to an end her avatāric sojourn in the material world (prapañcāvatārāt)194].
Translation
Having heard from Arjuna about the destruction of the Yadus and about Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s departure, Kuntī as well fixed her mind with exclusive devotion on Bhagavān Adhokṣaja and thereby ceased from worldly existence.
