स्वःपथाय मतिं चक्रे निभृतात्मा युधिष्ठिरः ॥ ३२ ॥
svaḥ-pathāya matiṁ cakre nibhṛtātmā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ
Synonyms
niśamya — hearing [śrutvā177]; mārgam — [of] the path [or the course (padavīm), meaning the skillful arrangement of events (cāturya paripāṭīm);178 or of the manner of His return to His own abode (sva-dhāma-gamana-prakāram)179]; bhagavat — [adopted by] Bhagavān [Śrī Kṛṣṇa (śrī kṛṣṇasya)]; ca — and; saṁsthām — [of] the destruction [(nāśam), in terms of the outward condition (tad-bahir-daśāyām), or of “the perfect establishment” (sam-sthām, i.e., samyak-sthiti) in terms of their own intrinsic condition (svāntar-daśāyām), by virtue of reentering the aprakaṭa-prakāśa]; yadu-kulasya — of the Yadu dynasty; [and recollecting Nārada’s prophetic words (nāradoktam anusmṛtya)180]; yudhiṣṭhiraḥ — King Yudhiṣṭhira; nibhṛta-ātmā — being firmly resolute in mind [(niścala-cittaḥ);181 or whose internal thought processes remained concealed to others (anyālakṣita-citta-vyāpāraḥ)]; cakre — fixed; matim — his intent; pathāya — upon the path; svaḥ — [leading to] Kṛṣṇa’s own abode [(śrī kṛṣṇa-dhāma-pathaṁ gantam)182].
Translation
Hearing of the course adopted by Bhagavān [Śrī Kṛṣṇa] and of the destruction of the Yadu dynasty, King Yudhiṣṭhira, being firmly resolute in mind, fixed his intent upon the path leading to Kṛṣṇa’s own abode.
