SB 1.14.35

मङ्गलाय च लोकानां क्षेमाय च भवाय च ।
आस्ते यदुकुलाम्भोधावाद्योऽनन्तसखः पुमान् ॥ ३५ ॥
maṅgalāya ca lokānāṁ kṣemāya ca bhavāya ca
āste yadu-kulāmbhodhāv ādyo’nanta-sakhaḥ pumān

Synonyms

[In the next four verses, Yudhiṣṭhira’s intention is to say that Kṛṣṇa was residing in Dvārakā for the benefit of all beings and not for any other reason (bhagavato’trāvasthāne hi lokānāṁ maṅgalaṁ nānyathety āśayenāha caturbhiḥ).107]; maṅgalāya ca — for the well-being [śubhāya]; kṣemāya ca — and preservation [of that which is already at hand (labdha-pālanāya); or of an already established state of happiness (labdha-sukha-paripālanāya)108]; bhavāya ca109 — and prosperity [(udbhavāya);110 meaning the obtainment of newfound happiness that was previously unobtained (yogaḥ sa cālabdha-sukha-lābha-rūpaḥ)111]; lokānām — of all beings [(sarva-prāṇinām), and especially the residents of Dvārakā (viśeṣato dvārakā-vāsinām)112]; ādyaḥ pumān — the Original [Supreme] Person [(parama-puruṣaḥ);113 the root cause and source of all being (mūla-kāraṇa-bhūtaḥ)114]; ananta-sakhaḥ — who is the companion of Ananta [Balarāma (balabhadra-sahāyaḥ);115 or whose companion is Ananta, the Śeṣa-avatāra, meaning Balabhadra (anantaḥ śeṣāvatāro balabhadraḥ sakhā sahāyo yasya saḥ);116 or who is accompanied by Balarāma (balarāma-sahitaḥ)117]; āste — is residing; yadu-kula-ambhodhau — in the ocean of the Yadu dynasty.

Translation

It is for the well-being, preservation, and prosperity of all beings that the Original Supreme Person, the companion of Balarāma, is residing in the ocean of the Yadu dynasty.
