SB 1.14.18

नद्यो नदाश्च क्षुभिताः सरांसि च मनांसि च ।
न ज्वलत्यग्निराज्येन कालोऽयं किं विधास्यति ॥ १८ ॥
nadyo nadāś ca kṣubhitāḥ sarāṁsi ca manāṁsi ca
na jvalaty agnir ājyena kālo’yaṁ kiṁ vidhāsyati

Synonyms

[The terrestrial omens are again spoken of in the next three and a half verses (punar bhaumān āha nadya iti sārdhais tribhiḥ).64]; nadyaḥ — large rivers [such as the Gaṅgā (gaṅgādyāḥ)65]; nadāḥ ca — streams [or tributaries, such as the Śoṇa, which flows into the Gaṅgā (śoṇādayaḥ)]; sarāṁsi ca — lakes; manāṁsi ca — and the minds [of living beings (prāṇinām)66]; kṣubhitāḥ — are all agitated [meaning that they now exceed their normal boundaries (tyakta maryādā jātāḥ)67]; agniḥ — fire [meant for religious ritual acts (āhavanīyadiḥ)]; na jvalati — does not burn; ājyena [api] — [even] with ghee [ghṛtenāpi]; [hence, I do not know (ato ahaṁ na vedmi)]; kim — what [misery (duḥkham)]; ayam — this; [viparīta-dharmāḥ] kālaḥ — [contradictory] time; vidhāsyati — will bring forth.

Translation

Large rivers, streams, lakes, and the minds of living beings are all agitated. Fire [meant for religious ritual acts] does not burn, even with ghee. What misery will this contradictory time bring forth?
