Synonyms
[In spite of the fact that Dhṛtarāṣṭra had become thus established in samādhi, Yudhiṣṭhira might still have been prepared to bring him back. Recognizing this, Nārada instructs him as follows (tathā-bhūtam apy ānetum udyataṁ pratyāha tasyeti).193]; sannyasta — [now that] Dhṛtarāṣṭra has abandoned; akhila — all; karmaṇaḥ — actions; mā eva — do not; abhūḥ — become; antarāyaḥ — an obstacle [vighnaḥ]; tasya — for him; [Yudhiṣṭhira might then have been prepared to at least try to see him. Anticipating this, Nārada speaks the following (darśanam api tāvat kuryām ity udyataṁ pratyāha).]; rājan — O King [implying that because of Yudhiṣṭhira’s royal status, by the time preparations were made for his departure, it would already be too late (rājatvāt tava gamana-sambhṛtav eva tāvan kālo gamiṣyatīti sambodhanena sūcitam)194]; pañcame — on the fifth; ahani — day; parataḥ — following [uttaratra]; adyatanāt — from today [ahnaḥ]; saḥ — he; vā — indeed; hāsyati — will give up; svam — his; kalevaram — body [subordinate to his will (svādhīnam)]; tac ca — which [the word ca is used here in the sense of the emphatic particle eva, meaning “that very body” (ca śabda evārthe tat-kalevaram eva)195]; bhaviṣyati — will then be reduced; bhasmī — to ashes.
Translation
Now that Dhṛtarāṣṭra has abandoned all actions, do not become an obstacle for him. O King, on the fifth day following from today, he indeed will give up his body, which will then be reduced to ashes.
