स्रोतोभिः सप्तभिर्या वै स्वर्धुनी सप्तधा व्यधात् ।
सप्तानां प्रीतये नाना सप्तस्रोतः प्रचक्षते ॥ ५१ ॥
srotobhiḥ saptabhir yā vai svardhunī saptadhā vyadhāt
saptānāṁ prītaye nānā sapta-srotaḥ pracakṣate

Translation

This is the place where that renowned celestial river Gaṅgā has divided herself into seven branches by her seven streams for the pleasure of the seven sages. Consequently, this holy place, known specifically as Saptasrota, is referred to by various names [such as Marīci-Gaṅgā, Atri-Gaṅgā, and so on].
