हृतं क्षेत्रं धनं येषां तद्दत्तैरसुभिः कियत् ॥ २३ ॥
hṛtaṁ kṣetraṁ dhanaṁ yeṣāṁ tad-dattair asubhiḥ kiyat
Synonyms
kiyat — what is the value [kiṁ prayojanam64]; asubhiḥ — with [i.e., of] a life [prāṇaiḥ65]; [maintained with food and other items (annādibhiḥ labdhaiḥ)66]; dattaiḥ — given; tat — [by] those [teṣām67]; yeṣām — whose; [house of lac (lākṣā-gṛheṣu)68]; nisṛṣṭaḥ — was set [prakṣipta]; agniḥ — on fire; dattaḥ ca — who were administered; garaḥ — poison [viṣam]; dārāḥ — [whose] wife; dūṣitāḥ — was insulted [avamatāḥ]; ca — and; kṣetram — [whose] land [or kingdom (rājyam)69]; dhanam — [and] wealth; hṛtam — were captured [apahṛtam70]; [by you (tvayā)71].
Translation
What is the value of a life maintained with food given by those whose house was set on fire, who were administered poison, whose wife was insulted, and whose land and wealth were captured by you?
