SB 1.12.8

अङ्गुष्ठमात्रममलं स्फुरत्पुरटमौलिनम् ।
अपीच्यदर्शनं श्यामं तडिद्वाससमच्युतम् ॥ ८ ॥
aṅguṣṭha-mātram amalaṁ sphurat-puraṭa-maulinam
apīcya-darśanaṁ śyāmaṁ taḍid vāsasam acyutam

Synonyms

acyutam — that immutable being [(avikāram);17 Śrī Kṛṣṇa]; aṅguṣṭha-mātram — was merely the size of a thumb [He whose span extended to the length of a thumb (aṅguṣṭha-parimitā mātrā unnāho yasya tam)18]; amalam — pure [in spite of having entered the womb, He was devoid of contact with any impurity therein (kukṣi-praveśe’pi tad-gata-mala-sambandha-rahitam)19]; apīcya — [and] exceedingly beautiful [ati-sundaram]; darśanam — to behold [dṛśyata iti darśanaṁ rūpaṁ yasya]; śyāmam — [with] a darkish complexion; taḍit — [attired in] lightning yellow; vāsasam — garments [the words śyāmam and taḍid-vāsasam suggest that Kṛṣṇa resembled a dark cloud enlaced with lightning (vidyud-bhūṣita-meghopamā sūcitā)]; sphurat — [and ornamented with] a shining; puraṭa — golden [suvarṇam]; maulinam — diadem [kirīṭam20].

Translation

That immutable being [Śrī Kṛṣṇa] was merely the size of a thumb, pure, and exceedingly beautiful to behold, with a darkish complexion, attired in lightning yellow garments, and ornamented with a shining golden diadem.
