SB 1.12.4

सूत उवाच
अपीपलद्धर्मराजः पितृवद्रञ्जयन्प्रजाः ।
निःस्पृहः सर्वकामेभ्यः कृष्णपादानुसेवया ॥ ४ ॥
sūta uvāca
apīpalad dharma-rājaḥ pitṛvad rañjayan prajāḥ
niḥspṛhaḥ sarva-kāmebhyaḥ kṛṣṇa-pādānusevayā

Synonyms

sūtaḥ — Śrī Sūta; uvāca — replied; niḥspṛhaḥ — being freed from hankering [nirgatā spṛhā yasya tathā bhūtaḥ5]; sarva-kāmebhyaḥ — for all pleasures; anusevayā — by continuous service to [or continuous meditation on (anudhyānenā)6]; kṛṣṇa-pāda — Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet; dharma-rājaḥ — the king of dharma [Yudhiṣṭhira]; rañjayan — pleased [santoṣayan7]; apīpalat — [and] protected [pālayāmāsa8]; prajāḥ — his subjects; pitṛ-vat — just like a father.

Translation

Śrī Sūta replied: Being freed from hankering for all pleasures by continuous service to Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet, the king of dharma [Yudhiṣṭhira] pleased and protected his subjects just like a father.
