प्रादात्स्वन्नं च विप्रेभ्यः प्रजातीर्थे स तीर्थवित् ॥ १४ ॥
prādāt svannaṁ ca viprebhyaḥ prajā-tīrthe sa tīrthavit

prajā-tīrthe41 — at the auspicious moment of the child’s birth [putrotpatti-puṇya-kāle42]; saḥ nṛpatiḥ — the king; tīrtha-vit — who was conversant with the appropriate time for awarding charity [dāna-kāla-jñaḥ]; prādāt — donated; viprebhyaḥ — to the brāhmaṇas; hiraṇyam — gold; gām — cows; mahīm — land; grāmān — villages; varān — the finest [śreṣṭhān]; hasti — elephants; aśvān — [and] horses; ca — as well as; su-annam — high-quality food grains [śobhanam annam].
Translation
At the auspicious moment of the child’s birth, the king, who was conversant with the appropriate time for awarding charity, donated to the brāhmaṇas gold, cows, land, villages, the finest elephants and horses, as well as high-quality food grains.
