निर्यात्यगारान्नोऽभद्रमिति स्याद्बान्धवस्त्रियः ॥ १४ ॥
niryāty agārān no’bhadram iti syād bāndhava-striyaḥ

devakī-sute — when Kṛṣṇa, the son of Devakī; niryāti — departed [nirgacchati sati33]; agārāt — from His mansion [sva-gṛhāt34]; striyaḥ — the wives; bāndhava — [of] His relatives [such as Kuntī and others (kuntī prabhṛtayaḥ)35]; nyarundhan — restrained; bāṣpam — their tears [(aśru), by keeping them suppressed in their eyes (netresv eva stambhitavatyaḥ)]; udgalat — that overflowed [sravat]; autkaṇṭhyāt — out of affection [out of constant meditation on Kṛṣṇa born of divine love (prema-pūrvakānudhyānāt);36 the cause of such tears (hetoḥ)]; iti — so that [with the intention that (buddhyā)37]; abhadram — inauspiciousness [amaṅgalam]; no syāt — might not befall Him [mā bhūt].
Translation
When Kṛṣṇa, the son of Devakī, departed from His mansion, the wives of His relatives restrained their tears that overflowed out of affection, so that inauspiciousness might not befall Him.
