अर्हणमुपपेद ईक्षणीयो मम दृशिगोचर एष आविरात्मा ॥ ४१ ॥
sadasi yudhiṣṭhira-rājasūya eṣām
arhaṇam upapeda īkṣaṇīyo
mama dṛśi-gocara eṣa āvir ātmā
Synonyms
rāja-sūye — in the Rājasūya sacrifice; yudhiṣṭhira — [of] Emperor Yudhiṣṭhira; antaḥ-sadasi — amidst an assembly [sabhā-madhye145]; saṅkule — abounding [vyāpte]; muni-gaṇa — with hosts of sages; nṛpa-varya — [and] preeminent kings; īkṣaṇīyaḥ — He who was most attractive to behold [who was beheld with astonishment, giving rise to feelings such as, “What beauty! What majesty!” (aho rūpam aho mahimeti evaṁ āścaryeṇa vilokanīyaḥ san)]; eṣām — for the sages and all others [muni-gaṇādīnām]; upapeda — [and] who received [prāpa]; arhaṇam — the honor of the first worship [agrapūjādikam146]; eṣaḥ — this; ātmā — Supreme Immanent Self of the cosmos [(jagatām ātmā); (paramātmā)147]; āviḥ — is now present before me [prakaṭo vartate]; gocaraḥ — [as] the very object [viṣayaḥ]; mama — [of] my; dṛśi — vision [dṛṣṭi]; [What fortune indeed has befallen me! (aho me bhāgyam iti bhāvaḥ)].
Translation
In the Rājasūya sacrifice of Emperor Yudhiṣṭhira, amidst an assembly abounding with hosts of sages and preeminent kings, He who was most attractive to behold for the sages and all others, and who received the honor of the first worship — this Supreme Immanent Self of the cosmos is now present before me as the very object of my vision.
