SB 1.9.10

कृष्णं च तत्प्रभावज्ञ आसीनं जगदीश्वरम् ।
हृदिस्थं पूजयामास माययोपात्तविग्रहम् ॥ १० ॥
kṛṣṇaṁ ca tat-prabhāva-jña āsīnaṁ jagad-īśvaram
hṛdi-sthaṁ pūjayām āsa māyayopātta-vigraham

Synonyms

tat-prabhāva-jña — Bhīṣma, who was well aware of Kṛṣṇa’s omnipotence [tasya kṛṣṇasya prabhāvaṁ sāmarthyaṁ jānāti31]; pūjayāmāsa — honored; kṛṣṇam — Śrī Kṛṣṇa; ca — as well; jagad-īśvaram — the Supreme Regulator of the Cosmos; āsīnam — who was seated directly before him [agrata upaviṣṭam32]; hṛdi-stham [api33] — and who, although immanent within his heart [although permanently established in the heart of His devotees (sadā sveṣāṁ bhaktānāṁ hṛdaya-stham api)]; upātta-vigraham — manifested His own form to him [meaning that He presented (ātta, i.e., ānītaḥ) His form (vigraham) directly before his eyes (upa, netra-samīpe)]; māyayā — out of compassion [(kṛpayā); or by His own intrinsic potency alone (sva-śaktyaiva);34 or by His own independent will (svecchayaiva)35].

Translation

Bhīṣma, who was well aware of Kṛṣṇa’s omnipotence, honored Śrī Kṛṣṇa as well, the Supreme Regulator of the cosmos, who was seated directly before him, and who, although immanent within his heart, manifested His own form to him out of compassion.
