SB 1.8.9

उत्तरोवाच
पाहि पाहि महायोगिन्देवदेव जगत्पते ।
नान्यं त्वदभयं पश्ये यत्र मृत्युः परस्परम् ॥ ९ ॥

pāhi pāhi mahā-yogin deva-deva jagat-pate
nānyaṁ tvad abhayaṁ paśye yatra mṛtyuḥ parasparam

Synonyms

uttarā — Uttarā; uvāca — entreated [prārthayate23]; [Śrī Kṛṣṇa]; mahā-yogin — O Supreme Yogī [You, who are supremely competent to protect me in every possible way (mama rakṣāyāṁ sarvathā tvaṁ samārtho’sīti sūcayantī sambodhayati)24]; deva-deva — O God of gods [devānām api deva25]; jagat-pate — O Master of the Cosmos [Guardian of the entire cosmos (nikhila-jagat-trātaḥ);26 who thus assure the protection of Your devotees (sva-bhakta-rakṣā’vaśyakīti sūcayantī sambodhayati)27]; pāhi pāhi — please protect me, protect me [rakṣa rakṣa28]; yatra — [in this world (loke)] where; mṛtyuḥ — death; parasparam — is mutually related [(anyonyaṁ mṛtyur bhavati); where one death is followed by another, which is again followed by another, and so on (ekasya mṛtyur anyas tasya mṛtyur aparas tasyāpy anya ity evam);29 where everyone other than You is under the grip of death (tvad-vyatirikteṣu mṛtyu-grastāḥ)30]; na paśye — I cannot identify; abhayam — any source of fearlessness [(bhaya-rahitam); anyone by whose influence fear is rendered nonexistent (na vidyate bhayaṁ yasmāt), meaning one able to dispel fear completely (taṁ bhaya-nivartakam)31]; tvat-anyam — other than You.

Translation

Uttarā entreated Śrī Kṛṣṇa: O Supreme Yogī! O God of gods! O Master of the Cosmos! Please protect me, protect me. In this world where death is mutually related, I cannot identify any source of fearlessness other than You.
