यदोः प्रियस्यान्ववाये मलयस्येव चन्दनम् ॥ ३२ ॥
yadoḥ priyasyānvavāye malayasyeva candanam
Synonyms
kecit — some; āhuḥ — say; [that You (tvām)123]; ajam — [although] unborn [utterly devoid of the category of birth that results from subordination to karma (karmādy adhīna-janma-śūnyam eva)]; jātam — have taken birth [or appeared (prādurbhūtam)]; anvavāye — in the dynasty [vaṁśe124]; yadoḥ — of Yadu; kīrtaye — to enhance the fame; priyasya — of Your beloved [Yudhiṣṭhira]; puṇya-ślokasya — of spotless glory; iva — just as; candanam — the sandalwood tree; [grows (jātam); in the malayana genetic line (vaṁśe)125]; [to enhance the glory (kīrtaye)126]; malayasya — of the Malaya Mountain [malayācalasya].
Translation
Some say that You, although unborn, have taken birth in the Yadu dynasty to enhance the fame of Your beloved Yudhiṣṭhira of spotless glory, just as the sandalwood tree grows [in the malayana genetic line] to enhance the glory of the Malaya Mountain.
