SB 1.8.30

जन्म कर्म च विश्वात्मन्नजस्याकर्तुरात्मनः ।
तिर्यङ्नॄषिषु यादःसु तदत्यन्तविडम्बनम् ॥ ३० ॥
janma karma ca viśvātmann ajasyākartur ātmanaḥ
tiryaṅ-nṝṣiṣu yādaḥsu tad atyanta-viḍambanam

Synonyms

viśva-ātman — O Life of the Cosmos; janma — the birth; ca — and; karma — actions; [of You (tava)116]; ajasya — the birthless [janma-rahitasya]; akartuḥ — [and] inactive [devoid even of the arising of the disposition toward action (karmāyatthotpatti-rahitasya)]; ātmanaḥ — Omnipresent Self [(vyāpakaḥ);117 the Immanent Self of all living beings (sarvāntarātmanaḥ)]; [which You exhibit]; tiryak — among animals [as Varāha and others118]; nṛ — human beings [as Rāma and others]; ṛṣiṣu — sages [as Nara-Nārāyaṇa and others]; yādaḥsu — [and] aquatics [as Matsya and others]; tat — these [Your appearance in these various forms and the corresponding quality of action (tiryagādiṣu janma tat-sajātīyaṁ karma ca)119]; atyanta — [are] an extraordinary; viḍambanam — imitative display [anukaraṇam120].

Translation

O Life of the Cosmos! The birth and actions of You, the birthless and inactive Omnipresent Self, which You exhibit among animals, human beings, sages, and aquatics, are an extraordinary imitative display.
