SB 1.8.12

तर्ह्येवाथ मुनिश्रेष्ठ पाण्डवाः पञ्च सायकान् ।
आत्मनोऽभिमुखान्दीप्तानालक्ष्यास्त्राण्युपाददुः ॥ १२ ॥
tarhy evātha muni-śreṣṭha pāṇḍavāḥ pañca sāyakān
ātmano’bhimukhān dīptān ālakṣyāstrāṇy upādaduḥ

Synonyms

muni-śreṣṭha — O best of sages [Śaunaka]; atha — thereupon; tarhi eva — in that precise moment [tadānīm eva41]; pāṇḍavāḥ — the Pāṇḍavas; ālakṣya — seeing [dṛṣṭvā42]; pañca — five; dīptān — burning [jvalitān43]; sāyakān — arrows [missiles appearing like arrows (śarānālakṣyāstrāṇi)44]; abhimukhān — heading toward [āgacchataḥ]; ātmanaḥ — them; upādaduḥ — took up [jagṛhuḥ]; astrāṇi — [their] weapons [to counteract the missiles (pratikriyārtham)45].

Translation

O best of sages [Śaunaka], thereupon in that precise moment, the Pāṇḍavas, seeing five burning arrows heading toward them, took up their weapons.
