SB 1.7.49

सूत उवाच
धर्म्यं न्याय्यं सकरुणं निर्व्यलीकं समं महत् ।
राजा धर्मसुतो राज्ञ्याःप्रत्यनन्दद्वचो द्विजाः ॥ ४९ ॥

dharmyaṁ nyāyyaṁ sakaruṇaṁ nirvyalīkaṁ samaṁ mahat
rājā dharma-suto rājñyāḥ pratyanandad vaco dvijāḥ

Synonyms

sūtaḥ — Śrī Sūta; uvāca — said; dvijāḥ — O brāhmaṇas; rājā — King; dharma-sutaḥ — Yudhiṣṭhira, the son of Dharma; pratyanandat — approved [anumoditavān190]; vacaḥ — the words; rājñyāḥ — of the queen; [which contain the following six qualities, consecutively illustrated in the preceding six verses (dharmyam ityādayo vacasaḥ ṣaḍ-guṇāḥ pūrva-śloka-ṣaṭke draṣṭavyāḥ)]; dharmyam — [as they were] consistent with dharma [unopposed to dharma (dharmād anapetam), shown in SB 1.7.43 by Draupadī’s insistence that Aśvatthāmā be released on the grounds that a brāhmaṇa is by all means worthy of respect (mucyatāṁ mucyatām iti)]; nyāyyam — just [unopposed to justice (nyāyād anapetam), shown in SB 1.7.44 by her argument that it would be unjust to kill the son of their teacher from whom they had learnt the military arts (sa-rahasya ityādi)]; sa-karuṇam — compassionate [shown in SB 1.7.45 by her appeal on behalf of Kṛpī, Droṇa’s better half and the mother of Aśvatthāmā (tasyātmano’rddham iti)]; nirvyalīkam — unhypocritical [shown in SB 1.7.46 by her plea that a knower of dharma should not perpetrate adharma (tad-dharma-jñeti)]; samam — equanimous [shown in SB 1.7.47 by her capacity to equate the misery that Gautamī would be made to endure with that of her own (mā rodīd iti duḥkha-sāmyokteḥ)]; mahat — [and] noble [shown in SB 1.7.48, because by her stern words, she imparted beneficial instructions (yaiḥ kopitam iti niṣṭhuroktyā hitopadeśāt)].

Translation

Śrī Sūta said: O brāhmaṇas, King Yudhiṣṭhira, the son of Dharma, approved the words of the queen, as they were consistent with dharma, just, compassionate, unhypocritical, equanimous, and noble.
